Hi, I’m Macollvie.

You need communications to reach a business or personal goal. I’m the strategist who will give you clear-eyed guidance to get it done. And I can write your content too, with or without AI.

For 15 years and counting, I’ve crafted 400+ digital, audio, visual, and print communications projects for companies in financial services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and media and publishing. I’ve strategized with executives at the likes of Citigroup, Disney/ESPN, Mercer, MetLife, Pfizer, and Verizon, and led teams of direct reports and vendors/freelancers to get it all done.

That’s how I developed expertise in employee communications, executive communications, change management, and integrated marketing communications. In the process, I’ve learned a ton about how HR — everything “from hire to retire,” at the saying goes — finance, strategy and operations, marketing and sales, technology and data, and people all work together to move a business forward.

I’m also a journalist, a career that’s taken me across the U.S.A., Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean. The curiosity, storytelling skills, and relationships I’ve developed are invaluable. They come across in my current projects as a solopreneur, where I mostly work as a writer and editor for select outlets and project consultant.

On the surface, these two paths may seem different, but they all have one thing in common: people, organizations, and brands whose missions match my life’s purpose and inspire me.

Why I do this

Family, friends, and colleagues have been coming to me for years to help them write and think things through. After chatting with me, their intent and messages always become clearer because I listened, provided perspectives they didn’t have, and shared good tips or resources. The confidence boost they get is nice too. :)

Knowing firsthand the challenges of being “othered” in the workplace and the marketplace, I’ve been more than happy to help. As an employee, manager, and mentor, I’ve been through and seen enough to guide others who seek help.

Now I’m on a mission to help folks like me and my loved ones understand the setup, gain confidence, and get ready to SHINE. I’m talking about immigrants, Black and brown people, women — or anyone else who’s felt undervalued yet is expected to over-deliver.

After all, only by sharing and appreciating your own story can you attract the jobs, money, and fulfillment you deserve. And that goes for ambitious employees, scrappy small businesses with big dreams, and large organizations who know better and want to do better.
